The predecessor of Kien Giang Import Export Joint Stock Company (abbreviated as KIGIMEX) was Hai Nam Import–Export Company, established in 1975 under the Mekong Delta Import–Export Company, with its head office located in Can Tho City.

In 1975 – The Beginning of the Brand

KIGIMEX originated from Hai Nam Import–Export Company, established in 1975 under the Mekong Delta Import–Export Company, with its headquarters located in Can Tho City. This marked the very first foundation stone that laid the groundwork for the KIGIMEX brand as it is known today.

Period from 1976 – 1995: Model Consolidation – Functional Expansion

During this period, the enterprise underwent several name changes to align with development requirements and new management mechanisms.

Notably:

  • 1993: Granted an import–export license by the Ministry of Trade.
  • 1994: Merged with Kien Giang Food Company.
  • 1995: Became a subsidiary of Southern Food Corporation (Vinafood 2).

Period from 2000 – 2011: Expansion of Production Scale

KIGIMEX accelerated investment in infrastructure and its affiliated enterprises:

  • 05 rice processing and export enterprises
  • 01 anchovy processing enterprise
  • 01 petroleum trading enterprise
  • 01 branch in Ho Chi Minh City

This period marked a significant transition from a trading enterprise to a large-scale manufacturing and export enterprise.

2016: Equitization – A Strategic Turning Point

On July 1, 2016, KIGIMEX officially transformed its operating model into Kien Giang Import Export Joint Stock Company, in accordance with the State’s policy and roadmap for the equitization of State-owned enterprises and the direction of the Southern Food Corporation (Vinafood II), ushering in a new phase characterized by:

  • Modern corporate governance
  • Financial transparency
  • Enhanced operational efficiency

Milestone in 2017: Presence in the Stock Market

On September 14, 2017, KIGIMEX’s shares (ticker: KGM) were approved for registration and officially traded on the UPCoM market with 25,430,000 shares, affirming the company’s credibility and strong position in the capital market.

KIGIMEX Possesses Strong Infrastructure and Production–Business Capacity

Food Products:

  • Warehouse system with a capacity of 127,000 tons/year
  • Drying capacity of 96,000 tons/year
  • Milling capacity of 100,000 tons/year
  • Polishing capacity of 250,000 tons/year
  • Color sorting (Sortex) capacity of 220,000 tons/year
  • Rice packaging capacity of 1,750 tons/day, equivalent to 350,000 tons/year

Anchovy Products:

  • Fresh anchovy processing capacity of over 1,200 tons/year
  • Cold storage system with a capacity of over 360 tons
  • Procurement vessels equipped with cold storage holds of over 30 tons

Petroleum Products:

  • Fuel storage system with a capacity of over 4.5 million liters, supported by modern specialized fuel tank trucks and vessels, along with a standardized retail and dealership network.
